June/July Bandsaw Box Class!

Learn to craft this classic woodworking project alongside your fellow makers! Taught by Mike Thompson, a skilled woodworker with over a decade of experience.

What will you learn?
- Design and build a bandsaw box
- Guidance on manufacturing approaches for construction of your design
- Suggestions on how to finish your project. 
- How to use multiple tools in the woodshop.
- Build on your previous woodworking skills.

For those new to our makerspace, your $160.00 fee covers a 1 month full membership to our Makerspace, in addition to eight hours of project instruction over 4 weeks, and a wood blank to start your project. Your 1 month membership enables you to enjoy daily access to the makerspace to reserve time to work on your box in between classes as well as learning to use additional machines as the schedule allows. A signed waiver and membership agreement will be required for all students new to (or returning to) our Makerspace.

Notes:

1st Class - Demo construction and order of operations

2nd Class - Discuss individual box ideas and best ways to construct box/help work on boxes 

3rd Class -  Demo any finishing students would like to see/help students with individual finishing techniques they want to do

NO Class JULY 4th. 

4th Class -  Show and Tell 

-A wood blank will be provided to start your project. Any additional accent wood will be the responsibility of the member.

-Additional time outside of class instruction will be required to finish your project in the 4 weeks of this course. 

The four classes will take place Friday evenings from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm 6/13, 6/20, 6/27 and 7/11 ( no class 4th of July)  IF YOU ARE NEW TO THE MAKERSPACE: please arrive at 5:30 pm the first class to complete an orientation and sign forms for you introductory membership. This class requires a minimum enrollment of 3 students to run.
